Il Sole 24 ORE launches iPad App

Milan, Italy – July 12, 2010 –  Il Sole 24 ORE, one of Europe’s leading economic and financial newspapers, has announced the launch of its app for iPad. Readers in Italy and worldwide are now able to access their reference source for business and professional news daily via the iPad.

The Il Sole 24 ORE app for iPad is available now worldwide for free from the App Store on iPad or at: http://www.itunes.com/appstore/. Over 3.300 applications have already been downloaded during the morning.

Key features of Il Sole 24 ORE app for iPad include:
• The full daily edition of the newspaper available each day since 7 p.m. to download and take with you on the go.
• Zoom in and out; tap on an article to display and read an optimized text version, with adjustable font size.
• Navigate through sections or by page number to find your favourite content immediately.
• With one tap, access real-time news on the site www.ilsole24ore.com, recently redesigned for full iPad usability.
• Archive issues of Il Sole 24 ORE on your iPad.
• If you already use the iPhone app, just upgrade to the version for both iPhone and iPad: use the same credits to download issues of the newspaper, regardless of which device you are carrying with you that day. The Il Sole 24 ORE app is the only one that allows the portability of the credits.

For the first two weeks only from the launch of the app, the daily edition of the newspaper will be free of charge for the users, sponsored by Telecom Italia.
Thanks to the Apple’s Safari browser, already installed inside IPad, the sponsor’s web site has been made directly accessible, increasing the interactivity resulting also from the presence of only one sponsor.

The app was developed by Simplicissimus Book Farm and is available to advertising partners for sponsorship deals making it free to the public for a limited time period.

Also available in the App Store, in both the United States and Italy, is the first iPad version of Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, iDante for iPad. Promoted by Il Sole 24 ORE and produced by Carraro Multimedia, it showcases the bilingual (English and Italian) full text of Dante’s masterpiece; immersive environments depicting Dante’s cosmology through Hell, Purgatory and Paradise; and a dramatization of key scenes throughout the work via the classic etchings by Gustave Doré, rendered in full colour for today’s readers.

Additional content will be available through in-app purchase.
