After the announcement of the theme chosen for the 2022 edition of Trento Festival of Economics, organised by the Autonomous Province of Trento through Trentino Marketing and the 24 ORE Group in collaboration with the University of Trento and the Municipality of Trento from 2 to 5 June, the festival’s advisory committee has launched the first of a series of initiatives dedicated to young people and students. In this seventeenth edition of the festival, they will be involved in a programme exploring the state of the art as regards key major themes on the global agenda, to outline prospects for the future. This will take place through the “Visions of the future” initiative, which invites young people to play a leading role in finding answers to the major challenges of our time, in line with the title of the festival “ORDER AND DISORDER after the pandemic”. Two key themes have been identified by the festival’s advisory committee as particularly topical issues. These are the questions the students will be called on to consider: gender parity and energy transition.

Students who respond to the “Visions of the future” call for ideas will need to produce a presentation on one of the themes, individually or as a group, following the instructions provided at the website www.festivaleconomia.it/challenge, and outlining possible solutions. The written work must be sent to the email address visionidifuturo@festivaleconomia.it by 30 April 2022. Students officially enrolled at an Italian university or at business schools at the time of the application are entitled to participate.

The work will be assessed by a joint committee comprising members from the 24 ORE Group and the University of Trento, and particularly outstanding contributions will be presented during the period of the festival, from 2 to 5 June in Trento. Subsequently, certain extracts of these presentations will be published in the newspapers of Il Sole 24 Ore.

“Visions of the future” is intended to be an open space where ideas and proposals from young people can be gathered, in order to develop answers to the major challenges we face. It represents an initial step, symbolic but significant, in the necessary exchange of ideas between generations, to construct a fairer and more inclusive society capable of looking towards the future.

The initiative provides for editorial support from the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, the website IlSole24Ore.com, the radio channel Radio 24 and the press agency Radiocor, as well as the social media channels of the 24 ORE Group and Trento Festival of Economics.
