In the first half of 2018, the 24 ORE Group has pressed ahead on innovation by launching experiments on the publishing front through the R&D activities carried out by the Area24 Content Innovation Lab, which works side by side with the Group's Editorial Department.

Area24 is the R&D lab set up in November 2017, based in New York, Milan and Rome, whose task is to elaborate breakthrough publishing solutions and develop applications and prototypes to innovate the Group's processes and products. A hotbed of ideas, development and sharing that melds journalistic, technological and marketing skills to transcend the current production cycle and focus on tools, trends and technologies for the publishing products of the future, dedicating itself not only to the development of 'good ideas' in publishing, but also elaborating the issues regarding the integration of these ideas into the systems, processes and products of the Company.

The Area24 Content Innovation Lab is now online in a new section of ilsole24ore.com, www.area24lab.com, which will delve into the application of AI and machine learning to publishing and the media world. The aim is to give room to food for thought and updates in the various fields in which AI is applied, with in-depth analysis of practical applications.

In the coming months, the Area24 website will also open a space dedicated to the insiders - individuals, research institutes, businesses - and showcase their first-hand experience; the aim is to offer a platform where those who deal with and those who sell innovation can exchange and share views.

www.area24lab.com will also look into the developments taking place in the research activities of the Lab itself and of the 24 ORE Group. These, first of all, include the ongoing experimentation on products dedicated to professionals: the 24 ORE Group, in association with IBM Watson, is implementing Artificial Intelligence in its top-of-the-range tax database, to provide accountants, lawyers and tax professionals with a more effective, accurate, nimble and user-friendly read. Thanks to AI, users will take advantage of an innovative service capable of giving ultra-fast answers to even highly complex questions on a system of over 1.5 million documents.
