In anticipation of the reopening of the Museum, as part of the 2020-2021 program gravitating around female creativity “I talenti delle donne” of the Municipality of Milan, Mudec, in association with 24 ORE Cultura, has launched the miniseries "10 x 10”, ten mini-video documentaries that explore the lives of ten female legends of photography. Every Saturday, the appointment is on the social channels Facebook and Instagram of the Mudec.

Presented by curator and art critic Nicolas Ballario, the "10 x 10" miniseries tells the story of ten great female photographers who marked the entire 20th century, some touching even our century; very different personalities, but chosen because they all have a distinctive feature in common: they were pioneering artists who stood out for their photographic talent in a world and at a time when women were shut out, but with their art and 'militancy' paved the way for entire generations of female photographers.

From photojournalism to reports, from cinema to fashion, from architecture to politics, from design to art systems, the documentaries, directed by Fabrizio Spucches, span from the life story of Dorothea Lange and Cindy Sherman to Inge Morath, Margaret Bourke-White, Eve Arnold, Lisetta Carmi, Imogen Cunningham, Marirosa Toscani Ballo and lastly Tina Modotti; the latter will soon be hosted at the Mudec with an anthological exhibition dedicated to her.

The project is curated by Nicolas Ballario, contemporary art expert for SkyArte and Rai RadioUno; from the Mudec agora, he will tell the story of these 10 photographers not only through their biographies and the anecdotes and trivia that have marked their often adventurous lives, but also through the many images and external contributions from journalists, critics and artists, who will enrich the ten stories with their own precious perspective.

A podcast will be created from this series: in 2021 Mudec will, in fact, inaugurate a new cultural appointment on its social channels, focusing this time on a story that can be listened to wherever and whenever. The launch will be in the wake of the episodes of the miniseries "10 x 10": the video-documentaries will continue their informative mission in the form of audio-documentaries through podcasts. Ten new narratives of great female artists who have shaped the history of our time.

An all-female journey, since Mudec's longstanding mission is to bring the public closer to the discovery - or rediscovery - of great cultural personalities, where 'genre' is intended always and only in the artistic sense.
